Dear Team,

With reference to my ticket ID #94322937 I am submitting this feature request as cPanel support team member reply was below:

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to cPanel support. My name is Aaron and I am happy to assist you.

We do have the following article which does link to the MongoDB documentation on how to install this for CentOS.

Can I install MongoDB on cPanel?

Beyond this, once it is installed you will want to install mongo for each PHP version.

/opt/cpanel/ea-phpXX/usr/bin/pecl install mongo

How to install PHP extensions using PECL

If you need assistance performing the installations, you may want to reach out to a qualified system administrator who can assist you with adding the database service. If you do not have such an administrator, you may search for one in our listings here:

System Administration Services

Please note, however, that cPanel, LLC does not endorse or recommend any particular provider on that list, nor can we be held liable for any services performed by third-party providers, including those on the list.

Any additional features for accessing MongoDB through the cPanel interface would not be available though without customization. With that said, I highly recommend you submit this as a feature request if this is something you would like to see available inside of cPanel and WHM! You can submit a new feature request at our site here:

https://features.cpanel.net/

Our feature request site is actively reviewed and curated by our development team to identify potential future build plans and to accept ideas and suggestions from our community. Adding a feature request here will allow the rest of cPanel's users to vote for it if it's something they would like to see implemented as well.

While we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accepted, this is the best way to make suggestions visible to the teams that build cPanel.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns, and I hope you have a great rest of your day!

If this information helped address your concern, you can easily set this ticket to "Solved".

To do so, simply choose the option that says "Yes, close my request" that appears at the bottom of the article we shared.

Otherwise, please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thanks!

Thank you for using cPanel,

Aaron Horsley

The licensing terms of MongoDB (https://www.mongodb.com/licensing/server-side-public-license) prevent us from making it available with cPanel & WHM. Until that changes, we will not provide ways to install or manage MongoDB.

Hi Kenneth,

Just noticed that my topic got approved. Based on your reply I have immediately signed up on MongoDB portal. Can you please specify the terms which is preventing you to make it available in cPanel and WHM and explain the issues technically so that I can create ticket with MongoDB so that it can be available to cpanel and WHM as feature?

Awaiting your reply.

Hi Kenneth,

I had a chat with MongoDB sales team. They referred me to use MongoDB community edition which is free. They requested me to visit their Developer Community. And I found this article in community. https://developer.mongodb.com/community/forums/t/installing-mongodb-cpanel/13751/46. Hope this can give some idea to integrate MongoDB with cPanel.

Awaiting your reply.

The problem is not technical. Section 13 of the license MongoDB uses requires:

A company that offers a publicly available MongoDB as a service must release the software it uses to offer such service under the terms of the SSPL, including the management software, user interfaces, application program interfaces, automation software, monitoring software, backup software, storage software and hosting software, all such that a user could run an instance of the service using the source code made available.
The community edition is published under the same license as the commercial edition. MongoDB is a non-starter for us.
