As a server administrator, I want editable include files for Dovecot

As a server administrator, I sometimes need to customize settings in Dovecot which are not managed by cPanel. Currently, if I want these options to perist across cPanel updates or other changes to configuration settings, I am limited to:

  • creating a custom template file /var/cpanel/templates/dovecot2.2/main.local which is a copy of the /var/cpanel/templates/dovecot2.2/main.default provided by cPanel, or
  • creating a script which hooks into the cPanel update process to re-add changes to /var/cpanel/templates/dovecot2.2/main.default.

However, the changes I need to make do not require the complication of a templating system. What I want are include files which are not edited by cPanel, much like the pre-main, pre-VirtualHost, and post-VirtualHost include files cPanel provides with respect to Apache, and which do not require me to maintain a template file or a script.
