Improved Email Rate Limiting

I was very disappointed that "Maximum percentage of failed or deferred messages a domain may send per hour" is a percentage. I was hoping to limit ALL accounts to a figure of 10. I don't use "Max hourly emails per domain" because i have a lot of clients with mailing lists. So that means i can't limit failed or deferred messages either..... unhappy.

Would have been a great spam control option but it turns out to be useless.

It should at least be possible to increase the minimum fail/deferred value (which is actually 5) within the WHM/cPanel UI before the percentage value is calculated.

5 is too low.

Best case : it should be changeable per account.

We had original assumed "Maximum percentage of failed or deferred messages a domain may send per hour" to be based on the number of emails allowed to be sent per hour. So if you allow 1000 messages per hour and set this to 10%, it would allow 100 bounces before cutting off email.

I believe functionality like we had assumed this to be would be useful in addition to the current functionality as well as the other functionality proposed in this feature request.

We are also running into problems on shared servers with the hard coded minimum fail/deferred value of 5 emails. If the minimum were adjustable the feature would be much more useful in catching spammers without affecting other users.

Would be great to see this feature added.

We also need to be able to set this value. We would like to set it as high as 30 ir 50…

You can't work out a percentage on only 5 e-mails ! In the current state this feature is unusable and it's a shame as it would be a very usefull feature.

This feature has caused me a huge problem with plenty of angry customers who were unable to send messages after only just a ridiculously low number of messages. I'm very very unhappy and in total disagreement with how it was thought out in the first place.

They way it is illustrated within WHM is very misleading and leads people to believe that the percentage entered will be a plain and simple percentage of the hourly rate set.

You only happen to find out when customers bitterly complain that it's not like that at all and that the threshold is set at a ridiculously low value.

I'm so not happy with how this feature has deceived me entirely and how it has given my customer a terrible opinion of the quality of my hosting services. I agree with the proposer, they way it is conceived at the moment it's not just useless, it's more than that: it's lethal if you don't know what sort of fire you are juggling with.

the main problem i found is that if a customer sends 2 mails per hr and 1 gets deferred, it is considered 50% deferral. the percentage should be of the total per hr limit and not the actual sent number.

if i set it to 10% then if 1 of ten mails gets deferred the whole account is blocked. and the client might send only 10 emails per hr

In cPanel & WHM version 11.42 it will be possible to change the hard coded limit of 5.
