Option to automatically install wildcard SSL certificates on all domains that it would cover

I would like to see two new options in the cPanel interface on the SSL/TLS Manager: Manage SSL Hosts page that appear when a wildcard subdomain is selected from the drop down menu. Currently, a warning appears that advises users to manage each subdomain individually.

In addition to that warning, I would like to see two checkboxes. The first allows the user to opt into having the wildcard certificate installed on all the currently existing subdomains (owned by their account). The second allows the user to opt into having all newly added subdomains of the domain covered by the wildcard ssl being installed (and owned by the account) to have the SSL certificate installed when they're added.

A third, checkbox, on the "Create Subdomain" page would be very helpful if this feature was added. It would be greyed out and unchangeable if either a) there is not a current SSL certificate available that could be applied to the domain or b) the "automatically install SSL" option has been selected. This would allow users to easily install SSL on newly created subdomains as part of the creation process.

These changes would require a small change to WHM Home >> SSL/TLS >> Manage SSL Hosts as well. That page would need a new column to show if the "automatically install on newly added domains" option has been selected. Adding checkboxes to WHM Home >> SSL/TLS >> Install an SSL Certificate on a Domain would also be ideal.

The related APIs would also need to be updated to accommodate these options.

I really need this option too, as a big selling point for me is to supply subdomains with wild card ssl. The automatic install of such wildcard ssl's would be an amazing addition to cpanel.

I also need this. With hundreds of subdomain user accounts, having to install a new wildcard SSL on each account after the old one expires would be nearly impossible to do manually.

This would be huge. I have about 350 subdomains I need to do each time I update my cert. What a time killer. :-(

FWIW having had the

same quandry (a wildcard used by many subdomain accounts), I wrote a

script a while back that will probably help you achieve this: http://interpip.es/ssl/replace-wildcard-ssl-certificate-on-all-subdomains-on-cpanel-server/

It should go without saying that this isn't cPanel official, and comes with no warranty (as I make clear over there) and if you want to discuss my script you can always post comments on my blog but for the most part "it works for me" so it should work for you too.

We desperately need this feature! We manage a WordPress Multisite network with more than 1500 subdomain sites, and more being added every week. We need a way to secure all existing sites with a wildcard SSL and automatically issue the certificate on all new sites.

Thank you for the consideration!

This would be a very useful feature for maintaining wildcard SSL installs, the current manual method is less than ideal when there are a large number of accounts requiring the wildcard SSL too much manual interaction is required to install/update these at present.

Would love to be able to auto allocate SSL certs for all wildcard subdomains too. Any update to this?

We don't have an update to share at this time, but we'll be sure to post here when we do!
