Split backup archives into smaller files

When you make a backup of larger accounts (bigger than 20GB) the transfer to an external FTP storage cannot be completed because the FTP connection times out.

I noticed that the backup archives which are smaller than 20GB (15GB for sure) are easier to be transported via FTP to an external server.

I think it would be great to implement a backup option to split up the archive of the backup to files no bigger than 15GB.

We should be able to set the size. I can't get anything larger then 3gb to work by FTP or sftp

This would be very useful, including the ability to set the size. One of the remote FTP solutions I use has a strict file size limit of 5GB, although others vary. Also some large files can fail for other reasons too.

I think the alternative way would be to manually create cron jobs for backup purposes and splitting the generated backups to specific file sizes that may pass the limit imposed by external FTP servers.

As someone who depends a lot in these ftp based remote ftps, I would also love to see the files being split in parts..

Would love to get that option. Backing up 20+ Gb files is a pain in the ass. Worse because the new FTP engine that the new backup version uses.. times out way more than usual.

This is a very important feature. My provider limits sftp file transfer to below 4GB. All accounts exceeding this size always fails the backup transport. Please enable this feature and allow us set the split chunk size.
