Support for 1:1 NAT installation (and thus VMWare vCloud deployments)

cPanel being the best Web Hosting control panel on the market and having a great record of making awesome updates over the years should finally consider making this great app work seamlessly in a 1:1 NAT environment.

Please consider officially supporting 1:1 NAT installations.

Thanks everyone for your votes and comments.

1:1 NAT is now available in the 11.40 release of cPanel, going to EDGE tier this week.

This also applies to other cloud solutions that do 1:1 NAT and would be a major feature nowadays.-

Amazon AWS, OpenStack, and a plethora of other IaaS providers could be supported if this were officially supported.

Todd: As per your comment, and assuming you are still looking for beta testers, we would be interested in running up a non-production instance for assisting in the testing of this feature.

yes, if you still looking for beta testers, we would be also interested to running up a non-production instance for testing the feature to

thank you

Hello, I have created my own scripts for 1:1 natting on AWS, but would love to test the real thing!

If you wanted to test, you can get a free AWS EC2 "micro" instance... I'm looking at EC2 simply because I can save a crap-ton of cash. My dedicated server runs me $120/month, and I can get what I need at EC2 for $384... For three years. Once you have this thing ready to go, you could build an "official" cPanel AMI, allowing the deployment of a new cPanel server in minutes... Very cool.

We've already successfully tested on EC2. As far I can tell, it works. An AMI is something we'd consider but that'll be a future feature request.

Anyone there at cPanel have an idea on what pricing will be?

This is great news. I was reading many threads and shocked how ignorant cPanel was towards the need of this feature.

I believe pricing will be same. Its just a new feature which will allow many cloud computing customers to buy this product. ;)

I would be interested in running a non-production server to test this feature if you are still looking for people to test.

i'd be happy to test this in a test VM behind a Cisco firewall with 1:1 Nat IPv4 configured

I would like to test this on Google Compute Engine (1:1 NAT also)

Installed cPanel on Amazon Ec2. What about licensing? We need to get for Elastic IP right? I was following http://hostingbash.com/aws/configuring-cpanel-on-aws-ec2-instance/

While installing cPanel, we have provided the elastic IP address as main IP address and when switched the site to this, it started showing default cgi page.

Any clear document on setting up shared hosting? cpaneltoddr, guess you can help?? :)

To my knowledge, Google Compute Engine is not a complete and isolated operating system, so is not an option.

The instructions suggest you make custom modifications to cPanel that are now no longer necessary. cPanel like on all systems will set the main IP to the primary IP address of the box, so this should work just like on a non-NAT box. You shoudln't need to "Switch" anything.

All you should have to do is to setup the server, assuming that The 1:1 Mapping is already configured properly on Amazon side is to run the install. It should be working correctly out of the box.

When 11.39 moves to EDGE this week, you can also switch your tier to edge, run upcp, and open a ticket. we'll be happy to take a look at that time.

Thanks,

Todd
